Ted Graduates! Yeah!

February 18th, 2007 by barbara

Ted did it, he graduated from Venture High School on Tuesday, Feb. 13th. Yeah! I’ve attached some pictures of the happy graduate. He wants to walk the stage at the Martin graduation this May and will get his transcript to his counsellor and get that arranged. We arrived at Venture shortly before 11:30 am. The students that Ted invited to his graduation (he handed out “passes” earlier) were called to the lobby. When everyone arrived, they played the graduation melody on a tape recorder, and he marched up and down the hall while every one clapped and yelled, etc. Then he walked over to a sign on the wall and changed the number of graduates this year, increasing it by one. It was very nice and I got quite teary… surprise (not). Ted looked very happy and of course we were all proud of him. The whole family was there, including a picture of Jen and Wallace, so we could do a “family photo”. Unfortunately, there was a glare from the windows, but we know who’s in the picture. We all then had a nice lunch at Pappasito’s, before returning to work and in Matt’s case, to sleep as he had just come off his night shift.

Matt has accepted a new position in his company which will be in web development and writing programs, etc. This is a job he’s looking forward to and the good news is that it will be a daytime job, not midnight to 10 am, probably Mon – Friday, and there will be additional compensation, basically a raise. This is all good, except they need Matt to stay in his current position until they can replace him. He should be able to start the new job around the time we return from spring break.

I’ve moved the office to the house. Everything went smoothly, the furniture is in storage, and Matt spent some time Saturday and today, Sunday, getting my work computer set up with a wireless card and getting the wireless network to see my computer, or vice versa. Anyway, he got it set up and now all I need are the phones. ATT is coming on Tuesday to bring new lines to the house, so we can have the office phone and the fax working. We’ve obtained a mail box at a local mail center, and they will forward mail to us after we move, so that will be good, we can keep the same address and not have to change again.

Next task is to find a job for Ted and start working on my list of things to take to Colorado on spring break. I still have closets and the garage to sort through, but I have confidence it will get done. The den is now antique white, not brick red. The hot tub is gone and tiled over, the floors will be next. It’s time for me to start looking at granite countertops. The flyers keep disappearing from the tube outside, but no offers yet.

I guess we’re not the only ones with snow on our property, thanks for the pictures from the NY Doyles. The difference is that they are enjoying the snow (or not) and we are mostly not enjoying the snow, because we are not anywhere near the snow.
